Week 1
My fieldwork place is Chartwell Kamloops Retirement Residence. At first, I was so nervous because I was not sure that I can understand English of residents and coworkers. But, they were so kind and welcome to us, so I felt happy.

・Served coffee or tea to residents and took empty plates
・Played a game called Cover All
➡Shake two dices and cover the number you shake. If you shake a 7, you can cover any number you want. The first person to cover all numbers is the winner.
・Walked in the McArthur Island
・Gardening
・Danced with residents
Week 2
When I helped one of residents to walk, she said “Thank you very much!”, so I was so happy. But I also have a challenge. When I talked one of coworkers, she didn’t understand my English. So, I told her the spelling. I was a little bit sad but I enjoyed talking with her and I was happy that she spoke to me.

・Celebrated birthday of residents who were born in October
Week 3
I enjoyed Halloween events with residents this week. At the same time, I prepared for Christmas a little bit.

・Decorated cardboard for Christmas
・Gave treats to residents for a Halloween event
Week 4
I had the most frequent opportunities to talk with residents and coworkers since I started fieldwork, so I was really happy. I had natural conversations with them!!

・Wrapped a box for Christmas
Week 5
I met other volunteers in this week. I was happy to see new people and I enjoyed talking with them.

・Cleanes the handrails from 1st floor to 6th floor
・Played a game

・Joined JAVA MUSIC CLUB
・Made mats of plastic bags
Week 6
I feel sad because we have only one more week… But some residents told us thier gratitude. I’m gonna miss them and I don’t wanna finish our fieldwork.

Week 7
I can’t believe it is the last week. Linda and residents held like a farewell party for us. Some residents made speeches and Linda gave us some presents. We also said thank you to residents. I’m so sad and I miss all people in Charwell. But I enjoyed spending time with them and I had really great experiences there. I’ll never forget all special memories.
